Admission

The Call (“avviso di ammissione”) for students wishing to enroll in the first year of the Galilean School is published every year in June. Applications are open until the end of August (August 27th for 2020)

30 places are available, divided among the three Classes of the School: 14 for the Class of Natural Sciences, 8 for the Class of Moral Sciences and 8 for the Class of Social Sciences

Students of any nationality can apply, provided that:

- they have just been awarded a high school diploma, or a high school equivalency certificate;
- they haven’t turned 22 yet (or before the application deadline);
- they are going to enroll for the first time in the first year of a 3-year program towards the Bachelor Degree (1st cycle, in Italian Laurea Triennale) or in a 5-year Single Cycle Degree (in Italian, Laurea a Ciclo Unico) at the University of Padova.

The selection to join the Galilean School is composed of 2 written and 2 oral tests, which are held in September:

- Class of Moral Sciences         

1st written test is an Italian literature test for all Italian citizens,   
2nd written test can be chosen (in the application form) among Greek, Latin, Philosophy, History and History of Art.
Non-Italian candidates can choose both written tests among the above-mentioned subjects, as Italian literature is not compulsory for them. The subjects of the 2 oral tests can be chosen among the above, but at least one subject must be different from the 2 of the written test.

 - Class of Natural Sciences:     

1st written test is a test of Mathematical and Scientific Ability,
2nd written test can be chosen (in the application form) among Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
The subject of the 2 oral tests can be chosen among the 4 subjects above.

- Class of Social Sciences        

1st written test is an essay, where the candidates' understanding and analysis of a problem in the contemporary society are tested.           
2nd written test can be chosen (in the application form) among Latin, Philosophy, History and Mathematics.
The subject of the 1st oral test can be chosen among Latin, Philosophy, History and Mathematics, while the 2nd oral test consists of a discussion on 3 essays, that the candidates must choose from a list that has been published on the website.

In addition to the 30 above-mentioned places, the Galilean School of Higher Education also recruits every year (between January and March) 4 highly-motivated international students wishing to enroll in a 2-year program towards the Master Degree (Second Cycle Degree, in Italian Laurea Magistrale). These students are admitted at the 4th year of the Galilean School.
